Peyton Lingle, Home Repair Program Director Personal Biography Peyton Irl Lingle, II has called Atlanta home for 30 years and currently serves as the Director of the Home Repair Program for the Community Housing Resource Center (CHRC). Mr. Lingle has supervised the direct home repairs for over 500 seniors or disabled homeowners since December 2002 while working for CHRC. He has been active in numerous partnerships which include the Atlanta Regional Commission, Adopt-A-Grandparent, Visiting Nurses Health System, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, and the newly developed Home Repair Network which brings together numerous providers of home repairs for seniors and the disabled. Peyton has always been around construction projects or design through his family. His mother is an interior designer and most of his mother’s family has been involved in some facet of construction for over 50 years. Peyton paid his way through college by working numerous jobs, including architecture, surveying, construction remodeling, mechanical engineering at the Kraft plant in Decatur, and meter reading for Atlanta Gas Light Company. In 1988, Peyton was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves. In 1989, Lieutenant Lingle started active duty in the United States Army Infantry. Lieutenant Lingle completed the Infantry Officers Basic Course, Airborne School, and Ranger School before joining the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Lieutenant Lingle was deployed with his unit to Saudi Arabia in August 1990 for Operation Desert Shield within two weeks of being assigned as an airborne rifle platoon leader. Lieutenant Lingle returned in April 1991 from Iraq from Operation Desert Storm and continued with the 82nd Airborne Division until being released from active duty in August 1994. Lieutenant Lingle was promoted to Captain in the United States Army Reserves in August 1994 and continued in the Individual Ready Reserves until resigning his commission at the end of 1997. Mr. Lingle decided to use his leadership and management skills as a manager for Waffle House Corporation for two years during which time he was the Atlanta area percent sales leader. The time flew by while manager of one Waffle House restaurant then another, larger Waffle House restaurant. Feeling the tug toward is first passion, construction, he decided to pursue more education and work experience in designing construction projects. Before joining CHRC, Mr. Lingle spent six years in the construction industry working for engineering and architectural firms including two years studying architecture at Southern Polytechnic State University while working full time. He specifically worked for Rochester & Associates, ACME American Engineers & Architects, and David A. Burre Engineers & Surveyors. Between 1997 and 2002, Peyton completed construction drawings for over 60 projects (45 civil engineering and 30 architectural) including Red Roof Inns and Best Western Hotels. Peyton also prepared over 20 hydrology reports and prepared plats/surveys for over 70 survey projects. During this same time period, Peyton started a company to provide home assessments that are used to determine the long-term feasibility of remaining in the current house after retirement. Peyton is very active in his community and volunteers with his synagogue year-round. |
