Neighborhood Development Internship Project, Community Information This Neighborhood Development Internship Project (NDIP) places college students in paid internships with neighborhood groups working in low-income communities. The purpose is to increase the capacity of neighborhood groups to accomplish community goals, and to encourage students who are interested in community building by giving them a practical, educational experience. This is a community building initiative, rather than simply a contribution of a student's expertise. The project connects the strengths of individuals, neighborhood groups, companies and institutions to have a positive community impact. Learning is key, with all involved open to learning from each other.
Projects completed by NDIP students include the development of community newsletters and websites , a survey of projects completed by community development corporations, fundraising research, the creation of volunteer recruitment materials and the research for and publication of a Clarkston Healthcare Resource Map. Basic qualifications for projects to qualify for the NDIP: If you meet the above qualifications and are interested in learning more about the NDIP, please read the NDIP Community Application and contact Kate Grace to discuss your project needs. Project descriptions should be submitted no later than one month prior to the beginning of the semester in which you would like to work with a student. Approximately fifteen students are placed each semester through the NDIP. Students are placed for a single semester. Students work a total of 180 over a semester and receive a stipend at no cost to the host community organization. If you have questions regarding the Neighborhood Development Internship Project, feel free to contact Kate Grace at the CHRC. Both of the documents abovevcan only be viewed using Adobe Acrobat.
