Andy Schneggenburger, Designer

Personal Biography

An Atlanta resident since 1994, Andy currently serves as a program director for the Community Housing Resource Center. He manages the CHRC’s new YouthBuild program, and works with the design/build studio to provide environmental affordable housing.

While growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Andy learned the values of diversity, community, and care for the environment as integral to daily life. After earning an undergraduate degree in architecture at the University of Michigan, he came to Atlanta to pursue a Master’s degree in Architecture at Georgia Tech, where his desire to practice architecture in an urban environment was met by a city with a growing neighborhood-based non-profit development community.

In 2001, Andy was awarded a Rose Architectural Fellowship by the Enterprise Foundation. In partnership with the Historic District Development Corporation, a non-profit community development corporation in the historic M.L. King, Jr. District, he worked for three years as an architect and community advocate, while gaining experience in environmental construction and residential development.

Andy is also engaged in efforts to improve his own neighborhood, chairing the community association’s land-use committee, serving as a representative to NPU-W, and actively participating on committees to bring streetscape, park and library branch improvements to East Atlanta.
